Position Description – Position is responsible to implement testing projects related to the validation of bearing and sealing systems and to support product development

Functions/Responsibilities

• Review test requests for feasibility and propose test plan to meet customer needs
• Review and apply testing specifications to meet test requirements
• Design test fixtures and prepare detail and assembly drawings
• Coordinate with external suppliers for tooling cost and timing
• Participate in department resource planning meetings
• Work with technicians to verify test rig setups are correct
• Program test rig parameters and data acquisition systems
• Collect test data and analyze test samples to document results
• Troubleshoot test machine performance issues and assist in repair / improvements
• Act as technical resource to application engineering and sales departments
• Prepare test reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

Competencies

• Ability to read and understand technical drawings
• Ability to read and understand test specification and procedures
• Effective verbal and written communication with global internal groups
• Data acquisitions systems and statistical analysis (Weibull)
• Root cause determination and post-test damage characterization
• Mechanical testing experience with hydraulic and pneumatic test equipment
• Experience with accelerometers, load cells, thermocouples, tachometers and other transducers
• Experience with measuring systems and devices
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook.

Education

• Bachelors degree in engineering, mechanical preferred

Experience

• 3-5+ years’ experience as test engineer
• Bearing industry experience desired
• Experience with Microsoft Project to manage project timelines desired
• Understanding of LabView software desired

Reporting

The Test Engineer position reports directly to the Engineering Manager/Sr. Manager/Director

Physical Demands

Must be capable to…

• Sit for extended periods of time
• Full use of a computer and keyboard
• Minimal lifting of fifteen pounds or less
