Position Description – This position is responsible for checking and analyzing product detail geometry, performing detailed analysis and creating test plans.  It is a key role, interfacing with C&U headquarters in China, application and testing teams to ensure successful validation of our products.

Functions/Responsibilities 

• Perform analysis of bearings and surroundings, creating reports for internal and customer use 

• Testing 

• Calculations 

• Drawings 

• Bearing recommendation 

• Directly interface with engineers to clarify modeling, drawing and technical requirements  

• Maintain and operate C&U CAD software and systems including but not limited to Solidworks, Catia, MASTA, Romax, Mesys, BeaPro  

• Create/revise solid models and detailed drawings, support development of C&Us global PLM system 

• Develop drawing tolerance schemes and assembly stack-up and tolerance variation studies with C&U Design for manufacturing and assembly methods  

• Administer CAD software, comply with customer CAD and data exchange requirements, coordinate outsourced product engineering CAD requirements with C&U China and local suppliers 

• Support or perform FEA analysis 

• Sample bearing requests 

• Review customer requirements and drawings, ensuring all requirements are reflected in C&U documentation 

Competencies 

• 2 years minimum experience in automotive CAD design 

• Experience with bearing design and detailing highly desirable 

• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint  

• GD&T expertise 

Education 

• Associates degree or equivalent experience in CAD design and analytical engineering 

Experience 

• 2+ years’ experience as CAD designer  

• 2+ years’ experience directly in the bearing industry  

Reporting 

The Product Engineer position reports directly to the Senior Engineering Manager 

Physical Demands 

Must be capable to… 

• Sit for extended periods of time 

• Full use of a computer and keyboard 

• Minimal lifting of fifteen pounds or less
