Position Description – This position is required to meet and support the needs of the C&U Americas Metallurgy Test Lab, working closely with C&U Engineering and Production departments. The Metallurgy Lab -Technician I is responsible for the primary support for application engineering and quality analysis.
Functions/Responsibilities
- Support engineering and quality operations, address daily issues, facilitate efficient customer support.
- Identifies problems as they occur, but also examines the context of the problems and uncovers related issues, and has some decision making responsibility which is subject to review.
- Works with data which is available but not always directly related to the issue at hand and requires further research and refinement.
- Examines and analyzes information in accordance with established guidelines and practices.
- Resolve customer and internal quality issues.
- Maintain process documentation.
- Responsible for continual improvement projects.
Competencies
- Position requires a self-directed, detail and task-oriented individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to use hand tools, torque wrenches, calipers, scales, micrometers, ovens, presses
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurate measurements
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications
- Must be able to read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, gather, and organize data
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required
- Good human relations skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
Education
- This job requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent. The preferred formal education is a Technical Diploma or Associate’s Degree.
Experience
- 2-4 years of position related experience.
Reporting
The Metrology Lab position reports directly to the Engineering Manager/Sr. Manager/Director
Physical Demand
Must be capable to…
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Full use of a computer and keyboard
- Lifting of 60 pounds or less
- The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process paperwork and materials.
